Apu Trilogy Sequel “Avijatrik” Wins Laurels at Montreal Independent Film Festival

The Apu Trilogy, created by the Oscar-winning Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray in the 1950s, is regarded as one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Director Subhrajit Mitra picks up where Ray left off 60 years ago in his 2020 sequel titled Avijatrik (The Wanderlust of Apu), which has just won accolades at the Montreal Independent Film Festival. Mitra and the score composer Bickram Ghosh talk to NCM about dreaming big while retaining their own vision.
