Canadians of Philippine origin organized protests, information campaigns, vigils and other events on Sept. 21 and the days that followed to remember the proclamation of martial law in the archipelago nation. Although 49 years have passed since the proclamation in 1972, many of those assembled say that the long struggle that began that fateful day is not over yet, Veronica Cusi reports.
