In the story I’m currently writing, I will be interviewing 2LGBTQ+ refugees. As it is highly probable that they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) because of having lived through traumatic experiences, I’m looking for any advice that could help to interview them in the most respectful and caring manner. For example, how to avoid triggering someone with PTSD and avoid re-traumatizing them. Also, if someone ends up being triggered during the interview, how to manage the situation.
Any experience with trauma-informed interviews would be very helpful.
Thank you very much!
