Standing committee votes to reconnect ‘lost Canadians’ with their citizenship

Amendments to bill S-245 targets legacy of policy changes to the Citizenship Act about Canadians born abroad since the 1970s.

Effective October 26th, 2024, the registration of New Canadian Media as a Registered Journalism Organization has been voluntarily revoked. New Canadian Media can no longer issue official donation receipts and is no longer eligible to receive gifts from registered charities. We are currently in the process of filing Articles of Dissolution with Corporations Canada. We want to thank our contributors and audience for being a part of our journey. Further updates will be provided as they become available.

New Canadian Media provides nonpartisan news and views representing all Canadian immigrant communities. The views expressed on this site are those of the individual writers and commentators, and not necessarily those of New Canadian Media.
